Die Hard (1988) Press Kit Photo ref. DH-7

Yippee Ki‐Yay! Die Hard press stills have arrived

“40 Stories of Sheer Adventure!”

Having been collecting stills, cards and posters for several decades now I sometimes encounter a scenario where a hugely successful movie doesn’t appear to have had an especially large amount of marketing material produced for it, at the time.

Take John McTiernan’s mega-hit “Die Hard” (1988), for example. The director was clearly in a rich vein of form, having recently directed megastar Arnold Schwarzenegger in Predator (1987). He was then at the helm of The Hunt For Red October (1990) – and many other Big Budget productions after that.

I do have the feeling though the Die Hard exceeded performance estimates to such a large extent, that the original marketing budget may well have been more modest than what one might expect(?). This certainly seems to ring true when attempting to add pieces of related memorabilia to your collection!

I have been fortunate to own a single set of British front of house Die Hard cards for many years. However, up until recently picking up any black and white press kit photographs had resulted in a dead-end. I was therefore delighted to finally add some to the Gallery collection in the Spring of 2026. You can check them out here.

Oh, and if (like me) you’re also a big fan of the first sequel, check out these cool Die Hard 2: Die Hard (1992) UK front of house cards too.

Yippee Ki-Yay, indeed!
