The Shadow (1994) [UK]

A complete set of eight cards from the UK release of “The Shadow” (1994) starring Alec Baldwin, Penelope Ann Miller and John Lone – along with a strong supporting cast. From the director of Highlander (1986) and Highlander 2: The Quickening (1990).

As you can see from the scans, these cards are in the style that became fairly popular here in the United Kingdom in what turned out to be the latter stages of the existence of newly printed “lobby” cards (typically referred to as “Front of House” cards, or the more generic “Colour Stills” in the UK). Unlike earlier American 14″ x 11″ cards, these vibrant, full-colour images include surrounding artwork that goes right to the very edge of each card – with no white edge nor border (or blank background..) at all. There is then a section measuring approx. 10″ x 8″ where a scene from the movie is displayed, in a similar manner to those older USA cards of the same approximate size.
