Quadrophenia (1979) [French]

A complete set of twelve (12) cards from a release of this British classic drama, originally released in 1979. These are undated but with no reason to suggest that these are not from the very first release in French cinemas.

Lead actor Phil Daniels features in half (6) of the images. Leslie Ash features in a quarter of the images (3). The Police frontman and solo musician turned occasional actor Sting also features in three of these superb images.

Collector’s Notes: These images are printed on notably thinner/lighter paper/card stock, compared with most other lobby cards. There are however absolutely vintage original pieces of memorabilia.

Note also that three of the 12 images are in portrait mode, whereas the other 9 are in the considerably more common landscape format. All 12 images are, however exactly the same physical size.

Interestingly enough, Quadrophenia actually received it’s international premiere in France – at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on the 14th May, 1979 (source: IMDb). The film then debuted in the UK and the official French theatrical release followed the next year (1980). There was then no further re-releases in France until as (comparatively) recent as 2013, further confirming that these clearly “vintage” pieces will date from circa. 1979/1980.
