About

A complete set of eight cards from the British release of the disastrous first sequel to cult favourite Highlander (1986). Two of the lead performers returned, as did the director. What could possibly go wrong…?

As it transpired: just about everything. Highlander II: The Quickening (1991) was universally panned by critics and (most) cinemagoers alike. The production and shoot were apparently beset with problems, resulting in the dreaded “Studio Suits” opting to take control of the post-production edits and beyond… and we all know what the outcome there usually is!

Regardless of those troubles, a fairly typical marketing push still took place (although it’s worth noting that by this point in the early 1990s, lobby cards had all but ceased production over the US, so as far as I know there are no American lobbies for this particular motion picture, unfortunately.

On the plus side, the British stills you see here do a decent job of conveying the look and general feel of the film (the production design was arguably one of it’s few strengths. Sadly even those qualities were cancelled out by already dated looking S/FX, although Stewart Copeland (The Police) did a good job with the soundtrack score.
