US film director John Landis was born in Chicago Illinois, US in 1950. He was one of America’s most succesful filmmakers during the 1970s and 80s in particular, with hit movies including The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977), National Lampoon’s Animal House (1978), The Blues Brothers (1980), Trading Places (1983), Three Amigos (1986), Coming to America (1988), and Beverly Hills Cop III (1994). He has also directed occasional films from other genres – perhaps most notably An American Werewolf in London (1981).
Landis also famously directed the legendary music video for Michael Jackson’s Thriller (1983) and then Black or White (1991).
